september Missing youseptember by ~fevermonument
is miles and oceans,
folded letters,
stones worn smooth between my fingers-
shorelines empty in September.
Missing you
is late-night whispers,
words stretched long across state lines-
your touch, a near-forgotten specter.

stars they are shaken Such is the starlight, stars they are shaken by ~fevermonument
cool grass against our backs-
while others move restless
and shake,
we are still.
Newfound constellations
shift in the sweet
blue-black of the sky-
stars they are shaken
and fall to
the earth.

in dappled green and gold,
lazy light and shadow-
one last passing summer here,
every memory condensed-
fireworks in the dimming heat,
salt in seaspray and white sun,
green laughter and the moon above and open field
as wide as oceans- and as deep-
home
through open windows, starlight
swimming on the surface of a lake.

we lay to find a different sky,
tracing tunnels;
fabricating constellations-
closer, yet, to you
I trace quiet circles in the sand,
beside your cheek
in hopes that you will look to me.
am I a sweeter constellation
in your sky of stars?
beneath the roots
and upside down, we lay,
in cool shade, far from summer's heat,
below the haze that hung
across that strip of sand;
across the windless bay-
and closer, yet, to you
I move, in hopes to find
an answer in your half-closed eyes.
am I the sweetest constellation
in your sky of stars?
